Gavin's Song can be confusing if you are a beginner to the Last Rider's series. I'm giving this one 4,5 stars, Shade still holds the top with 5 stars ). And let me tell you.do they have a story to tell !!! This first book explains how Gavin and Ginny came to be the people they are today. Just don't go into this one expecting roses and sunshine and romance, because you won't find any.that's not to say that there won't be any in the next book. You also won't know all the wonderful (and not so wonderful) side-characters, which would be a real shame. I think this trilogy can be read as a stand-alone, but it will confuse you a bit.

I do have one advise before starting this trilogy and that is to at least read 'The Last Riders' series. Gavin and Ginny were definitely awesome but I also loved revisiting my old favorites.yes Shade, I am talking about you ) Might be time for another re-read I think.
